Statewide Psychology Educators
In July 2023 CMHL welcomed two Statewide Mental Health Psychology Educators. Our Psychology Educator Team is made up of one Principal Psychology Educator (Grade 5) and one Psychology Educator (Grade 4). The CMHL Psychology Educators focus on psychology workforce development and education for public mental health psychologists, as well as contribute to CMHL workforce development and education activities from a psychological perspective.

The Personality Assessment Inventory – An Introduction and Recent Advances by Dr Lucille Douglas
The Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) workshop was delivered online on the 6th December 2023. There were 92 registrations for the event, with an attendance rate of 90%.
Psychologists who attended the PAI training reported high levels of satisfaction with the workshop. Participants reported that the workshop supported their understanding of the PAI (average=4.5/5) and that the learning materials supported their understanding of the PAI (average=4.68/5). Participants were highly likely to recommend this training to colleagues (average=4.55/5).
Here is some of the feedback from participants:
- One of the best psychology trainings I have ever been to. Comprehensive, practical, immediately applicable and well presented
- Presenter was passionate and made learning enjoyable.
- Could not have been more helpful, really appreciated the comprehensive notes that were provided, will make it easy to translate learnings into applied practice immediately
- Clarity of information, both verbally and written supported learning.
Participants also reported being motivated to implement their learnings into practice, with a focus on:
- Administering and scoring and reporting on PAI.
- Using client centered interpretation and report writing.
- Finding access to the PAI, finding opportunities to use the PAI
- Approaching validity scales with more flexibility.

Statewide Psychology Educator Meetings
In September 2023 the CMHL Psychology Educators initiated a monthly Statewide Psychology Educator meeting to facilitate networking, share educator resources, and identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration.

CMHL Psychology Specialist Advisory Group
The group meets quarterly and consists of psychology leaders from public mental health services across metropolitan and regional/rural areas. The Specialty Advisory Group provides specific advice and contributions to CMHL work such as calendar planning, forum planning, identifying workforce development priorities, and supporting translation to practice.

Statewide Psychology Workforce Scoping Project
The CMHL Psychology Educators have undertaken a comprehensive psychology workforce and education scoping project. Information has been obtained from all 21 Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services. A scoping report will be available in January 2024.
