Description
Here in Australia, there has been much interest in Open Dialogue and its principles and accompanying practices which have resonated strongly with mental health consumers and carers/supporters. As has been experienced by other countries outside of Western Finland (see Buus et al 2017), a major challenge for the uptake of Open Dialogue in Australia will centre on its effective fit and implementation within a highly structured mental health service setting. A potential way of addressing this challenge is to look at the alignment of Open Dialogue with a Single Session Family Consultation model that seems to resonate strongly with its principles and that already has established acceptance and currency within Victorian mental health service setting.Peter McKenzie from The Bouverie Centre and the Consumer Academic, Cath Roper have been seeing families utilising an Open Dialogue approach within a Single Session Family Consultation framework. Therefore, it is an opportune time in this webinar to take a closer look at a family/network approach that incorporates these two models.
This event will cover:
- Being informed by learnings gained from an exploratory therapeutic family work incorporating these two models.
- Understanding the use of open dialogue in contemporary mental health settings
