Description

This webinar will introduce the Strengthening Connections program, a Bouverie
program operating within Victorian women’s prisons. This project employs a practice research approach. Informed by research and gaining new knowledge through practice, new practices and further research are being shaped. Our research shows that many of the reasons why women come back to prison are preventable. The Strengthening Connections Project aims to set women up with the relational resources and the support network they need so they can leave prison and never return. Throughout the 45-minute webinar, the Strengthening Connections program team will demonstrate the research base that has informed the clinical delivery of the program. The team will unpack how Single Session Thinking can be applied to improve outcomes for women in prison, through “levelled” short-term individual and family therapies which aim to enhance a client’s confidence and strategic relationship planning in preparation for leaving prison, ultimately aiming to reduce the risk of re-entry into the prison system.

This event will cover:

  • How practice research, cultural wisdoms and single session thinking have informed the development and direction of this project
  • A breakdown of the clinical service delivered within Victoria’s women’s prisons
  • Research and evidence leading the Strengthening Connections program
