Description

This workshop, introduces and explores concepts and techniques of the narrative approach to working with clients who have experienced trauma. Participants are invited to begin to practice these approaches in a supportive environment. Prior knowledge of Narrative Therapy is recommended but not required.

This event will cover:

  • 'Double listening' i.e. simultaneously listening for both the effects of trauma and the client's responses to trauma
  • 'Externalising' the effects of trauma
  • Eliciting and highlighting people's responses to trauma
  • Building the person's preferred story with their responses
  • Using their responses to restore from the trauma's effects their sense of self & identity

Therapists, counsellors and health and community workers who are working to help people recover from trauma.
