Learn how to provide support to individuals with a mental illness and/or experiencing a mental health issue.
Each year 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental illness in a given year and almost half the population have had a mental disorder at some time in their life, however many people are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance. This course provides simple, practical skills and equips participants with evidence-based knowledge and skills to give them confidence to offer first aid and support for a mental health issue. This course uses the internationally accredited MHFA course material and is delivered by accredited MHFA instructors including a Senior Dual Diagnosis Clinician and Dual Diagnosis Peer Worker.

This event will cover:

  • Mental Illnesses - Risk factors, Prevalence, Impact, Interventions, Recovery
  • Mental Health First Aid - Why MHFA? - The MHFA Action plan
  • Signs & Symptoms, Interventions and making an Action plan for substance use issues
  • Crisis first aid for suicidal thoughts and behaviours
