Description

This workshop provides a practice-based introduction to narrative therapy. Participants explore the principles, philosophies and concepts underpinning this approach, and how they are similar or different to other models. The workshop introduces techniques involved in narrative therapy, including starting and ending the session, and common questions and responses used by the therapist. Experiential exercises enable participants to practice these skills in a supportive environment.

If time permits, the workshop will also explore identity and action, witnessing responses and therapeutic documents.

This event will cover:

  • Describe the theory and philosophy behind narrative therapy, including what makes a session a narrative one, 'the problem is the
  • Describe the core concepts of narrative therapy: externalising the problem, and building the new preferred story.
  • Identify a range of narrative therapy skills and apply these to your work with clients.

Counsellors, therapists and health and community workers who are interested in exploring the use of this model for their work.
