Description

This 4-day live-stream course provides a basic introduction to core concepts of family therapy theory and practice. It will help you develop new ways of understanding difficulties impacting on families and a range of approaches to intervention. The course is a combination of didactic and experiential delivery which seeks to integrate theoretical concepts with practice. It is useful in enhancing your work with families, or if you would like a taste of what it might be like to participate in our postgraduate courses.

This event will cover:

  • Describe the systemic basis of family therapy and the benefits of this framework for understanding family difficulties
  • Articulate some of the key developments in family therapy models over time
  • Identify key theoretical concepts underpinning family therapy and relate these to practical work with families
  • Identify and apply a range of key family therapy skills
  • Apply family sensitive practice principles within your own service setting

Eligibility criteria

Case managers, counsellors, social workers, psychologists, nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, welfare and youth workers, and others in the helping professions.

No prior knowledge or experience of family work is required.
