Our workforce, our future: a capability framework for the mental health and wellbeing workforce is a foundational resource for Victoria’s mental health and wellbeing workforce. It sets out the knowledge, skills and ways of working that our diverse, multidisciplinary and evolving workforce needs.

Principles
The seven principles provide a common set of core values and approaches that underpin all interactions between professionals and consumers, carers and families.
Capabilities
The 15 capabilities outline the knowledge and skills required to deliver safe and effective care, support and treatment. These are described for:
- Whole-of-workforce
- Care, support and treatment professionals
- Technical specialist professionals, and
- Leadership

Local Implementation Teams
The Department of Health are hosting Local Implementations Forums across the ten regions from April – July 2024. Eight Local Implementation Teams (LITs) will be established across the State to serve as a focused group for monitoring, enabling, and improving the implementation of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Capability Framework: Our workforce, our future at a local level.
