In its full capacity, Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a thoughtful and disciplined approach to change conversations that takes time, practice and skill. However, it is also a very user-friendly approach with principles and ideas that can support both the novice and experienced counsellor engaging in complex AOD work.

Presenter
Helen Mentha is a clinical psychologist who has worked in community-based AOD counselling for thirteen years as a therapist, dual diagnosis senior clinician, supervisor and manager in the AOD sector. She now specialises in MI training and supervision, is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and currently serves as a board member of the network.
