This webinar will examine research evidence that points to the importance of addressing smoking cessation with AOD clients and will explore different methods to help people quit, and the strength of their effectiveness.

This webinar offers the opportunity to:
- understand the elevated rates of smoking, risk of harm, morbidity and mortality among people seeking treatment for AOD problems
- gain an understanding of the barriers and facilitators to addressing smoking cessation in AOD treatment settings
- examine the available forms of smoking cessation support and the strength of the evidence of their effectiveness among people seeking treatment for AOD problems
- reflect on current clinical practice, and explore opportunities to engage clients in smoking cessation or harm reduction efforts.

Presenter
Dr Victoria Manning is a Senior Researcher Fellow at Turning Point and Monash University, where she leads the Treatment and Systems research program. She is a chartered psychologist with 18 years clinical research experience in addiction treatment settings in the UK, Asia and Melbourne where she has acquired extensive knowledge of the AOD treatment evidence-base and its implementation in real-world clinical practice.
She has spent much of her career designing treatment outcome monitoring systems and trialling innovative approaches to enhance treatment effectiveness. She currently oversees four clinical trials running at Turning Point one of which is a trial of E-cigarettes and NRT following inpatient withdrawal.
