Overview
This eLearning activity aims to enhance and upskill clinicians in the provision of clinical mental health services for older people living in residential aged care facilities.

This course provides educational information about ageing, navigating the aged care system and working within residential aged care settings, commonly occurring mental health issues in older people, the assessment of older people’s mental health, and an overview of evidence-based psychological interventions in the context of residential aged care.

This course is has been designed and is suitable for health and community professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, mental health nurses, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers:

It is comprised of the following 4 modules:
Introduction to Ageing: Facts, Attitudes and Myths
Aged care and the Australian residential aged care environment
Mental health issues of older people living in residential aged care facilities and
Evidence-based treatments

Level of Learning
Foundational. This activity is targeted to those new to the topic.

Duration of access
Access to this eLearning is for 6 months from the date of confirmed registration.

APS CPD-Approved
This eLearning activity has been assessed against the APS Standards for CPD activities and approved for its education quality.

Certificate of completion
Mental health professionals can claim 8 hours of Continued Professional Development (CPD) by completing this activity, and will receive a certificate of completion. (meets ACMHN Level 2 Endorsement)
