This webinar will cover an introduction to gender diversity, differentiates sexual orientation, intersex status, gender identity and expression. Also highlighted are key areas of disadvantage and discrimination for trans and gender diverse people and related mental health impacts. Legislative obligations, tips and suggestions on working with trans and gender diverse people are included.

Within this webinar we will also have an interview with a panellist, Christie, who has a lived experience of alcohol and other drugs dependence and navigating supports and treatment through the AOD service sector as a non-binary person.

There will be time allocated for Q & A.

This event will cover:

  • Introduce clinicians to an understanding of gender diversity and differentiate sexual orientation from gender
  • Provide clinicians with an understanding of the vulnerabilities specific to Trans and Gender Diverse people and align with a har
  • Define where clinicians may become aware of gender diversity through specific points within intake, assessment and treatment pat
  • How to apply this knowledge and have sensitive conversations and make accurate referrals for trans and gender diverse people
