Description
Have you ever wondered how to have a conversation about spiritual beliefs which aid a person’s recovery from a mental illness?Spiritual Health Victoria (SHV) in partnership with Victorian Transcultural Mental Health (VTMH) is pleased to offer an opportunity for mental health practitioners to explore and nominate the challenges they may encounter when spirituality or religion comes up for their consumers. Person-centred care models include this domain, but quite often workers feel ill equipped to support people in this aspect of their lives. There are different reasons why this may be so, including a lack of training or unclear organisational policy. The aim of these reflective discussion groups is to invite practitioners to share their experiences and insights, and to unpack some of the mystique and taboo surrounding this natural and highly common aspect of our humanity.
This reflective peer group allows practitioners to develop deeper understanding of how to explore conversations with mental health consumers about their diverse spiritual beliefs. These sessions will interest clinicians, community and other workers from mental health settings.
