Description

This year’s Psychology Week is from 29 October – 5 November. The focus for 2023 is on self-care for psychologists. CMHL are offering a 90 minute interactive webinar on compassion-based self care practices for psychologists.

Self care is vital in the prevention of burnout, however many psychologists find it difficult to implement self care strategies in their daily lives. At times, the need for self care can be viewed as an inadequacy in the individual (eg inadequate coping, poor health practices, not taking enough time off work). This can result in self care plans taking on the air of a New Year’s resolution or a self-improvement plan. This webinar will explore the use of compassion-based approaches to enhance psychologist self care, including strategies for prevention of burnout within the public mental health context.

Learning objectives:
- Identify the key elements of self-compassion in preventing burnout
- Apply compassion-based approaches that enhance self care within the public mental health context
- Generate practical compassion-focused strategies to include in your self care planning
