Description

The ADI-R is a semi-structured diagnostic interview to assess behaviours related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ADI-R typically takes between 90 minutes to 3 hours. The course is designed to teach clinicians how to administer and code ADI-R with parents/ carers of children and young people with suspected autism.

For clinicians wanting to achieve research level reliability, Deborah offers the “Personal ADI-R Reliability Package”. This includes scoring an ADI-R DVD administration, submission of your own recording of ADI-R, feedback and certificate once reliability is achieved. This is a separate cost from the course for those who wish to pursue reliability.

This event will cover:

  • Learn about the underlying principles of the ADI-R
  • Learn how to code the caregiver’s responses during the interview
  • Observe and discuss an administration of the ADI-R with parents/carers of child or young person with autism
  • Trainees have the opportunity to conduct part of a ADI-R interview and receive feedback and coding advice

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for this training participants are required to have prior completion of the ASD Assessment Fundamentals and Cooccurring Conditions 2-day training (formerly "Complexities of ASD Assessment"). As our autism training calendar is designed for mental health clinicians working with complex clients, we have made the ASD Assessment Fundamentals and Co-occurring Conditions a prerequisite as it covers all components of a comprehensive ASD assessment. This includes a comprehensive developmental history, consideration of collateral information and issues of comorbidity, differential diagnosis and formulation. We would like to ensure that all clinicians attending have a broad understanding of the complexities of ASD assessment.
