Description

This workshop is designed for all practitioners engaging with interpreters in mental health settings, or who are new to working with interpreters.

This event will cover:

  • Consider the applicability of cultural safety and cultural humility in the interpreted encounter
  • Explore meaning making and language
  • Reflect on the challenges and realities in the interpreting environment
  • Discuss engagement strategies prior to, during and after the interpreted encounter
  • Explore institutional and individual responsibilities

Eligibility criteria

The above workshop builds on introductory-level training offered by VTMH. Participants are asked to have either engaged in the VTMH introductory workshop within the last three years or alternatively view the free online training module: Orientation to cultural responsiveness
