This webinar will explore the concerns and risks for LGBTIQ people with AOD issues and the barriers many people face in accessing AOD health services. Through a case based approach you will learn about appropriately addressing the health needs of your LGBTIQ clients.

This webinar is suitable for workers in the AOD, mental health, allied health and welfare sectors.

Presenter
Dr Keri Alexander trained as a doctor in NZ, and moved to Australia nearly 20 years ago and worked here as a GP in Aboriginal Health. As well as obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, she was one of the first graduates to complete the addiction training program of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians to obtain Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine in 2007. Keri currently works as an Addiction Medicine Specialist and Director of Addictions Training at Turning Point.
As an out and proud lesbian, Dr Keri Alexander is a strong advocate for LGBTIQ quality care in both the AOD sector and health services. Keri is a member of Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby as well as the National LGBTIQ health alliance, and has recently been shortlisted for the Victorian Government’s LGBTIQ taskforce.
