Life presents a range of challenges, which vary throughout a person's lifetime. Accordingly, mental health may be affected by these challenges, and the impact of these may vary considerably depending on the age and development profile of the person. This topic discusses the ways in which mental illness may present in children (<12) and adolescents (12-18), in young (18-25) and mature adults (25-65), and in elderly (65+). The more common mental health problems, and life experiences, are discussed in each section.
