This topic follows Carer Participation and explores the role of carers working as advocates in non-government organisations or in the mental health system. Carer advocacy involves representing carer perspectives and needs in order to improve the responsiveness of mental health services to people living with mental illness. It is critical that mental health workers understand and value the importance of carer advocacy roles in order to collaborate effectively towards improved services and outcomes for carers and consumers.
