This workshop (live online via Zoom) will cover a range of complex factors workers must consider when engaging with ‘at risk’ clients from refugee backgrounds.

This event will cover:

  • The global and local context of suicidality across communities from refugee backgrounds
  • Reflecting on participants own beliefs and attitudes towards suicidality
  • The diverse causes and presentations of self-harm and suicidality in the context of refugee experience
  • Risk assessment, decision making processes, referral and documentation
  • The impact of supporting ‘at risk’ clients

Eligibility criteria

Suitable for practitioners including psychologists, social workers, counsellors, psychotherapists and therapeutic youth workers who are working with people from refugee backgrounds.
