Description

Staff working in public clinical Infant, Child, Youth, and Family Mental Health services are eligible to register for this event at no cost.

This two day workshop will review contemporary concepts, and themes about working with suicide and self-harm and how they relate to working with young people with complex presentations. You will learn and practice techniques from specific models such as the Chronological Assessment of Suicide Events (CASE) approach, and a risk formulation model that emphasises prevention over prediction. You will also have an opportunity to reflect on the impact of working with risk as a clinician. We will explore helpful ways to engage and respond to the risk of suicide and self-harm in young people with a range of mental health difficulties, and discuss the challenges and benefits of engaging their families.
