Description

The 20 hour Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Foundation Workshop for mental health professionals, will introduce you to the core concepts and applications of the highly regarded, evidence-based, psychosocial group program, TC-TSY, for adults and youth affected by PTSD, developmental or complex trauma, dissociative disorders and other related difficulties; based on the robust research from the Trauma Center, and the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI (Justice Resource Institute in Brookline, MA, USA).

This workshop will be delivered over two separate Thursdays in November, using several teaching mediums, including: interactive seminars with accompanying handouts; small and large group work and discussion; demonstration and participation in components of a TSY and TCTSY classes, individual sessions and group therapy clinical practice; use of lived experience; and clinical examples. In the participant facilitation practice components of the workshops, participants are invited, in small groups, to practice facilitating trauma-sensitive breathing practices, brief trauma-sensitive yoga movement sequences, core components of the TCTSY methodology in practice, and the use of trauma-sensitive language.

The workshop is delivered by a TCTSY Trainer, TCTSY Certification Supervisor and Lecturer and TCTSY facilitator, Kristen Pringle (The Mindful Movement Centre, Australia). Kristen Pringle is also a senior Mental Health Clinician, a CYMHS Practice Development Clinician, an Occupational Therapist, a University Supervisor, a Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness facilitator, Yoga Therapist & one of only three licensed Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Trainers (TCTSY-T) and Certification Supervisors in Australasia.

ACCREDITATION
This 20 hour TSY Foundation Workshop is accredited by The Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI, USA (letter of completion) and satisfies one of the pre-requisites for applicants of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI’s TCTSY Certification for Yoga Teachers and/or Mental Health Career Professionals, held annually via an in-person weekend in Melbourne, Australia; Berlin Germany; or Brookline, USA (and then live online with the Center for Trauma & Embodiment at JRI, (USA) from September to April annually).
This workshop is solely for professional development and is not a certificate program: to be certified in TCTSY, completion of the 300hr TCTSY Certification is required. This workshop is also not intended as an intervention for those who have experienced trauma. Talking about trauma, even in the context of a professional training can be triggering/overwhelming.

  • deepen their understanding of trauma theories, attachment, neurophysiology, interoception & present moment experience, choice-ma
  • expand their current practice to incorporate evidence-based trauma sensitive movement and trauma-sensitive breath practices, tha
  • learn about the methodology and evidence-base of the TCTSY model (TCTSY is an evidence-based adjunct treatment for complex traum
