Description

Mindfulness: an experiential workshop
1 Day workshop, Friday 24th May 2019.
Mindfulness has a proven ability to reduce our experience of negative emotions and to increase our psychological wellbeing. It involves deeply acknowledging our innate goodness and finding ways to allow positive emotions to be more present within our daily lives.
The practice of mindfulness has become mainstream in therapeutic modalities within AOD and mental health services over the last 10 years or so. With this higher profile of mindfulness as an evidence based strategy, many more clinicians are interested in, and are being required to provide mindfulness based programs.
In this workshop participants will be taken through a combination of sitting, standing and moving practices, task orientated mindfulness. An emphasis will be placed on the benefits of a consistent home practice. Participants will be encouraged to explore the nature of the wandering mind, and work to increase the flexibility and stability of their attentional awareness. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be confident to lead a session with clients and establish their own practice.
This program has been designed to benefit both consumers and clincicians. No experience is necessary.
