Description
The Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (Vic) (the Charter) sets out the rights of all people in Victoria and the responsibilities of public authorities to promote and protect those rights. This session equips mental health service providers to apply the Charter in their work and meet their Charter obligations. It supports employees of public authorities to build their knowledge of human rights and responsibilities under the Charter and apply the Charter to realistic scenarios in their service delivery settings.Participants will:
understand how the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities operates in Victoria
build knowledge of the 20 protected human rights in the Charter
understand mental health service obligations
understand how human rights can be lawfully limited
be introduced to human rights complaints mechanisms
know where to go for further information and resources
