PDAS: Psychotropic Medicines for Addictions and Substance Misuse
Mental and behavioral problems due to psychoactive substance use (incl alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, GHB, stimulants and tobacco) are common. Substance misuse is also frequently seen in people with severe mental illness. This session will cover common Psychotropic medicines management for acute intoxication, dependence syndrome, withdrawal states, and acute/late-onset substance-related mental and behavioral disorders.

This session covered topics such as: principles of psychotropic prescribing practice in childhood & adolescence, commonly used psychotropic drugs in children & adolescents for the management of mental health conditions including off-label prescribing, specific issues and key considerations when prescribing for young people including physical health monitoring.

Alcohol & Other Drug Use and Older Adults
This event focussed on AOD treatment for older adults, and the Older Wiser Lifestyle program. The presentation discussed the complexities related to AOD treatment for older adults (60+), including co-morbid mental health presentations. The presentation also aimed to introduce the model of care for the Frankston and Mornington Alcohol and Other Drug Service.

Sexual health for mental health consumers

Equally Well in Victoria (Physical Health Framework for Mental Health Services)
Equally Well in Victoria was released in 2019 by the Department of Health and Human Services as a framework for Victorian mental health services to use to address the physical health disparities for mental health consumers. Educator Forum: The Way People Learn: Implications for Learning Design
Delivered at the CMHL Victorian Mental Health Educator Forum, this session presented a brief refresher of learning principles and theories for mental health workers involved in workplace teaching and learning. Drawing upon learning theory, personal and professional experience, and the wisdom of colleagues, the session provided some foundational concepts to guide learning design.
Greg took attendees through an exploration of "learning styles" and relevance to teaching/learning design, reviewed the main theories of learning, and considered learning design as it relates to how people learn.

Educator Forum: Getting the Most out of Roleplays: Ideas for Setting Up, Conducting & Facilitating Feedback in Roleplay Exercises
Facilitated by Brendan O'Hanlon as part of the 2021 Victorian Mental Health Educator Forum, this instructional session covered setting up, conducting and facilitating effective feedback in roleplay exercises.

NDIS Series Session 5: NDIS Reforms - 2021 Update
The fifth, and final, webinar in this series aimed to promote strategic thinking and leadership regarding NDIS and Clinical Mental Health Services.
The session provided leaders with an overview of NDIS implementation progress to date, an outline on current successes and challenges with NDIS and how these challenges can be addressed, how Clinical Mental Health Services can partner and collaborate NDIS supports for best outcomes, and how we determine future planning and directions to realise the full potential of NDIS for psychosocial disability.

CMHL teamed up with the NDIS Program Leads to deliver a 5-part webinar series providing clinicians with up-to-date and advances NDIS information, and an opportunity to hear panel discussions with consumers, mental health clinicians, NDIS Program leads and subject matter experts.
